Bringing the COMMUNITY Back to Community Association Law

Let’s be honest, most Association Board Members dread having to get the Association’s attorney involved. The Board knows that it’s often expensive, contentious, and arduous to pursue any legal action. At The law firm of Opfer | Campbell | Beck P.C., we want to change those expectations. We strive to be efficient and effective in every case. This may be more than the expediency of a letter or notice, however. As litigators, we know that a dose of prevention is worth an ounce of cure. Tact and thoughtfulness can save the Association, and therefore its Members, not only substantial legal fees, but also substantial division in the community itself.

Integrity in Representation

At Opfer | Campbell | Beck P.C., we want something different in the practice area of Community Association Law and as a result, we will never propose a project or solution that isn’t in the best interest of the Association even if it’s at the cost of our firm. Our Association’s Board Members should be able to justify to the Association’s Members every legal expense so that the Members will know that those limited funds were spent wisely. At Opfer | Campbell | Beck P.C. we have practiced in all our practice areas with integrity. Clients will always come first with us.

Notices & Collections

A notice is only as good as the attorney who wrote it. Your attorney should be able to talk their talk and walk their walk. When we send a notice or file a case at Opfer | Campbell | Beck P.C., we can back it up. The majority of our attorneys are litigators first. Chris Opfer, in particular, has conducted over 40 jury trials and hundreds of hearings as a Deputy District Attorney. Although our attorneys are very comfortable in court, we seek to resolve every case in the best interest of the Association; whatever that may mean for a particular case.

Advice & Counsel

Sometimes an Association just needs some good old-fashioned advice and counsel. We often remind clients in all our practice areas that there are things they can do and things they should do. It’s our job at Opfer | Campbell | Beck P.C. to help strategize and work through issues to best protect the Association. This is another area where we are different in this practice area. We know that we work at the direction of Board and on behalf of the Association, not the other way around. We will always do our best to give Associations options, recommend a particular approach, and then defer to the Board’s collective judgment. We will never negotiate without the Board or against the Board.

Partnership

Community Associations do not exist on their own. They require volunteers, paid management professionals, community members, and so many others. At Opfer | Campbell | Beck P.C. we will partner with our Boards, Property Manager, Architectural Review Committees, and community members. Legal representation in Community Association Law should never be a one-way street. What is good for one neighborhood may not work for the next neighborhood down the street. When we represent an Association, it, and all those people who make it possible, have more than an attorney; they have a partner.

Bringing the "Community" Back to Community Association Law

At Opfer   Campbell   Beck P.C., we are not a large law firm. We are not international or even national. Rather we live in our community and represent those in our community. Attorneys can often forget that they can have great impact, for good or bad, over peoples’ lives. As Community Association attorneys, we know that what we do can impact a neighborhood and community to its core. Therefore, with everything we do, we keep the community in mind. Afterall, our neighborhood is where we raise our kids, it’s where we gather with friends, it’s where we celebrate successes, and where we mourn losses. Our neighborhood is where we sleep at night and, quite literally, the place we call home. There isn’t much more human than that. We started this area of practice to bring the community back to Community Association Law and we are honored to help our clients bring community back to their Associations as well.
