As a Senior Chief Deputy District Attorney, he managed a broad team of lawyers, supervising litigation across three Colorado counties and overseeing thousands of court cases each year.

Matthew W. Hurton

As an impressive accomplishment, alongside one of Opfer | Campbell | Beck, P.C.’s partners, Christopher Opfer, he helped found the office’s Vehicular Homicide Team, and went on to specialize in cold case homicides.

Chris Wilcox has a passion for litigation, to such an extent his family recalls how he could never lose an argument even as a child. Prior to starting his career, Chris attended the University of Denver Sturm College of Law where he immersed himself in every available aspect of trial practice. He also found tremendous success in mock trial programs alongside his trial team partner, who happens to be an Opfer | Campbell | Beck, P.C. founding partner, Ashely Opfer. Together, they were recognized among the very best trial practitioners across all law schools in the United States. Chris then spent a decade teaching trial practice at the law school level to members of DU’s prestigious National Trial Team.

Chris likes to balance tried-and-true litigation solutions alongside leveraging technology, innovation, and a solutions-oriented approach to help achieve the right outcome in every case. He has provided these trial skills to thousands of attorneys over the years on topics including litigation technology, ethics, and AI in the courtroom, along with practice specializations such as jury selection, crafting opening statements, and the Rules of Evidence.

Whether it was meeting with domestic violence victims, having hard conversations with the families of homicide victims, or guiding a colleague to a creative solution for a difficult problem, Chris understands that no one goes looking for a lawyer on their best day. As a client, you are looking for help, and that means that every interaction matters. It takes honesty, compassion, and experience to make those interactions count. Chris is passionate about bringing his experience and empathy to his clients, and ensuring he helps them find the best outcome.

We know everyone faces challenges ahead. Chris, along with the entire team at Opfer | Campbell | Beck, P.C., is committed to facing that challenge by your side.
